COVID-19 Risk Assessment

The government website describes 5 steps to working safely including carrying out a risk assessment:

The HSE website provides information on how to manage the risks and completing a risk assessment. It also provides a link to a risk assessment template gives guidance on what to include in your COVID-19 risk assessment. This in turn gives a further link to Coronavirus (COVID-19): latest information and advice providing information on working safely and restarting work.

In addition to the above, the UK government provides a pack of guidance documents for the following sectors:

  • Close contact services.
  • Construction and other outdoor work.
  • Factories, plants, and warehouses.
  • Heritage locations.
  • Hotels and other guest accommodation.
  • Labs and research facilities.
  • Offices and other contact centres.
  • Other people’s homes.
  • Performing arts.
  • Providers of grassroots sport and gym/leisure facilities.
  • Shops and branches.
  • Vehicles.
  • The visitor economy.

These documents can be found on

Each government document provides guidance on managing the risk in the workplace, not only in the opening section but throughout, reminding the reader to consider various elements in their risk assessment.

It is important to regularly monitor these documents for updates to ensure your risk assessment remains inline with the latest government guidance. A list of updates can be found in the opening pages of each document.
